Chevron has obtained an injunction from U.S. District Court against enforcement of the Ecuadorian verdict.
Despite these many setbacks, the Ecuadorian victims of Chevron's pollution that Donziger helps to represent continue to attempt to enforce the judgment in Ontario, Canada. Actions are also being pursued in Colombia and Argentina where, unlike in Ecuador, Chevron still has major assets. Pursuant to these efforts, Chevron has already had assets frozen in Argentina, including bank deposits and its stake in a pipeline company. These developments followed Donziger's successful appeal before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals of Judge Kaplan's worldwide injunction against the enforcement of the Ecuadorian judgment on the basis of Chevron's allegations of judicial malfeasance in Ecuador.[
